The territorial traffic police at Kasese Central Police Station has today 17th.April, 2023, registered a fatal accident at Nyamwamba West cell , Nyamwamba Division Kasese District along Nyakasanga Road, at around 1230/C, involving a UPDF vehicle reg no H4DF 2172 Toyota Land Cruiser. The accident claimed lives of two people.
We have since established that the juvenile was knocked down as he crossed the road at Nyakasanga, the vehicle then lost control, rammed into the House damaging it, while the soldier who seated behind the Vehicle died on spot due to suspected falling debris from the house.
The deceased have be identified as Private Mawadri Fred attached to Rukoki Barracks under mountain brigade and Bira Linius a four year old juvenile resident of Nyamwamba West Acholi quarters Kasese District.
All the two bodies have been conveyed to Kasese Hospital for postmortem examination.
The suspected cause of the accident has been attributed to speeding and careless crossing of the road by the juvenile.
Investigations into the matter are underway.
