Plain Clothed Security People Trailing Me, Reports Scared Ntugamo District NUP Mobilizer

It is increasingly becoming hard to be a supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP), the leading opposition political party in Uganda, especially if you were once a supporter of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), the ruling political party.

At a time when hundreds of NUP supporters are missing and unaccounted for, many supporters of the Bobi Wine-led political party are living in fear and on tenterhooks because of the threats on their lives and family by people they allege are from security agencies.

Edmund Mbabazi is an active mobilizer and NUP activist.

One such person living in fear is Edmund Mbabazi, a public health specialist, currently residing in Bwaise, in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso district, central Uganda.

Mbabazi, a former mobilizer of the NRM, switched to the opposition when he joined NUP and took on the mobilization roles for the opposition party in Ntugamo district, Kajara County, Kagarama Town Council, Kagamba III.

Mbabazi, a married man with children, was recently attacked while out with friends in Bendegere village, Nkumba Parish, Abayita Ababiri by men who had been trailing him. Together with friends, Mbabazi put up a spirited fight and overpowered his attackers who wanted to arrest him.

He has since reported the matter to Uganda police for investigation and management under file number SDREF.27/4/04/2024 at Abaita Ababiri police station.
