KAMPALA — The Mildmay Institute of Health Sciences (MIHS) is continuing to strengthen Uganda’s health education sector through the provision of accredited medical training programs aimed at producing skilled healthcare professionals for the country and the wider region.
Located at Lweza–Kajjansi along Entebbe Road, the institution operates under Mildmay Uganda and has been offering academic programmes since 2009. The institute provides certificate, diploma, and degree courses across various health disciplines, with a strong emphasis on practical and patient-centered learning.
According to information published by the institution, MIHS runs programmes under several schools, including the School of Nursing and Midwifery, equipping students with hands-on skills needed to address Uganda’s growing healthcare demands.
The institution has also embraced digital learning and student support services through online platforms that allow learners to access academic resources, tuition information, and application services more conveniently.
Health sector stakeholders have increasingly recognized institutions such as MIHS for contributing to the training of healthcare workers at a time when Uganda continues to face rising demand for qualified medical personnel.
Mildmay Uganda, the parent organization, is widely known for its work in comprehensive healthcare, HIV prevention and treatment, research, and medical training services across the country.
Education experts say the expansion of health sciences institutions is critical in supporting Uganda’s healthcare system, particularly in areas of nursing, clinical medicine, public health, and community healthcare services.
The institute continues to attract students from different parts of Uganda seeking professional medical training and opportunities within the country’s evolving health sector.
