Crime Reaches Unbearable Level In Kampala.

Residents in Kampala Metropolitan Area continue to be terrorized by machete-wielding in all parts of Kampala, leaving some dead and injured in night attacks. Ruthless thugs armed with all kinds of deadly metals and stones-pavers are reportedly targeting people in their homes at night and pedestrians walking home from work. Although the latest Annual Crime report by Uganda Police indicates a 4.1 percent decline in the number of crimes reported to Police, from 228,074 in 2023 to 218,715 in 2024, the current wave is a serious contradiction considering that the force had attributed the reduction to its commitment to decentralizing services through implementation of the Sub-County Policing Model where each sub-county is allocated 18 Police officers.
