CAF delegation arrives in Uganda for key AFCON 2027 preparations meeting

A high-level delegation from the Confederation of African Football is expected in Uganda on Tuesday for a crucial strategic meeting with the joint hosts of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027—Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

The two-day engagement, scheduled for April 22–23 in Kampala, will bring together key stakeholders to assess progress and align on priorities for the next phase of preparations under the PAMOJA (“together”) hosting arrangement.

The meeting is expected to convene representatives from the three governments, presidents of their respective football associations, and senior CAF officials, including Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.

CAF technical teams from various departments—such as competitions, commercial, broadcasting, safety and security, finance, and infrastructure—will also participate in the discussions.

According to organisers, the meeting will focus on critical areas necessary for the successful delivery of the continental tournament. These include stadium infrastructure development, procurement processes, safety and security planning, media and broadcasting arrangements, ticketing systems, and commercial operations.

The engagement marks a significant step in the coordinated planning process, as the three East African nations intensify preparations to co-host Africa’s biggest football tournament for the first time.

Officials say the meeting reflects a shared commitment between CAF and the host nations to ensure strong coordination, operational readiness, and timely execution of all requirements ahead of the 2027 finals.

CAF reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania in building robust systems and structures needed to deliver a successful and memorable tournament.
