Beinomugisha Godfrey is a Ugandan politician, former banker, insurance professional and political activist who emerged in national politics through the National Unity Platform (NUP) before later associating with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Born in 1983 in Bushenyi District in western Uganda, Beinomugisha belongs to the Munyankole tribe and grew up in a middle-class family shaped by education, public service and resilience through hardship.
Early Life and Family Background
Beinomugisha Godfrey was born to the late Gideon Mugisha and Jolly Mugisha. His father, Gideon Mugisha, served as a Grade One Magistrate in Mbarara and Bushenyi courts. However, the family’s fortunes changed after Gideon suffered severe injuries in a 1982 road accident that resulted in a spinal fracture. Years later, he suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed for six years before his death in 1997.
During this difficult period, the family endured major hardships, including the loss of several relatives within a decade. Despite the challenges, Beinomugisha’s mother, Jolly Mugisha, remained the pillar of the family.
Jolly Mugisha was a respected teacher who taught in several schools across Bushenyi District, including Bushenyi Town School, Kyabugimbi Model Primary School, Katunga Primary School, Kyeitembe Boarding Primary School and Kashenshero Primary School. She later became headteacher at Bushenyi Town School in 1996 after earning a diploma in education.
In 2006, she attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education from Kampala International University Ishaka Campus before retiring from public service in 2010. She later served on the Buhweju District Service Commission from 2010 to 2020.
Beinomugisha is the second-born in a family of seven children. His elder brother, Wilson Twinomugisha Bebaaga, is also known in regional politics for repeatedly contesting for parliamentary representation in Buhweju District.

In 2025, he officially joined elective politics and contested for the Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality parliamentary seat under the National Unity Platform ticket during the 2026 general elections.
However, shortly before the elections, political developments took a dramatic turn after President Yoweri Museveni and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa were publicly seen with him. Days later, Beinomugisha stepped down in favor of National Resistance Movement candidate Iddi Bassajabalaba and subsequently crossed from the opposition NUP party to the ruling NRM.
