Kampala, Uganda – May 4, 2026 — Heavy police and military deployment has been reported in parts of central Kampala, with security forces sealing off several commercial buildings in an operation whose purpose remains unclear.

The affected premises include City House, Kalungi Plaza, and Mutaasa Kafeero buildings, all located within the busy central business district. Witnesses say heavily armed personnel were deployed early, restricting access to the buildings and surrounding areas.

Security officers have cordoned off the premises, with no one allowed to enter or exit as operations continue inside. The presence of both police and military units has heightened tension among traders, workers and passersby in the area.

Several individuals have reportedly been arrested during the ongoing operation, although the exact number and identities of those detained have not been confirmed.

By press time, authorities had not issued an official statement explaining the nature or objective of the operation, leaving the public speculating about its cause.

The situation remains fluid, with more details expected once security agencies provide clarification.
