Gulu City, Uganda — Security agencies in the Aswa River Region have arrested four suspects in connection with a deadly gun attack at a petrol station in Gulu City that left two people dead.

According to Fred Ahimbisibwe Mchanga, the Aswa West Regional Police Commander, the suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led security operation and are currently in police custody.

The attack occurred on the 5th of this month at LT Energy Petrol Station located in Keyi B Cell, Laliya Trading Centre in Gulu City.

Police say three unidentified assailants riding on a boda boda stormed the petrol station before instantly shooting dead a security guard identified as Obedi Ronald and another unidentified victim.

The attackers reportedly fled the scene with the deceased guard’s firearm after the shooting.

SSP Ahimbisibwe said ongoing joint security operations in the region continue to record progress in disrupting criminal activities and strengthening peace and stability.

“We continue to register significant achievements in disrupting criminal activities and promoting peace and stability across the region,” Ahimbisibwe stated.

He also commended local leaders and members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation with security agencies in maintaining community safety.

Earlier, in a press statement issued on the 6th of this month, David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa Region Police spokesperson, reaffirmed the commitment of the Uganda Police Force to pursue and arrest all suspects involved in the aggravated robbery and murder case.

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing as security agencies continue efforts to recover the stolen firearm and establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
