Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Ugandans to embrace productive work, discipline, and enterprise as key drivers of wealth creation and employment during the International Labour Day celebrations held in Buikwe District.

The national event took place at Nkoyoyo Boarding Primary School and attracted government officials, workers, employers, and residents from across the district.

Speaking during the celebrations, President Museveni emphasized that sustainable economic transformation can only be achieved through productive activities and a positive mindset toward work and wealth creation.

He encouraged Ugandans to invest in agriculture and small-scale enterprises, noting that meaningful income can still be generated even from small pieces of land when properly utilized.

The President also called for stronger alignment between education, skills development, and the demands of the labour market, saying the country must focus on retooling and skilling its workforce to meet modern economic needs.

Museveni further urged citizens to take advantage of government economic empowerment initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Uganda Development Bank to support productive economic activities and entrepreneurship.

Leaders and residents of Buikwe welcomed the President and other dignitaries to the district, describing the Labour Day celebrations as an important opportunity to recognize the contribution of workers toward national development.

Organizers also commended employers for their role in creating jobs, supporting investment, and driving productivity across different sectors of the economy.

The celebrations concluded with messages of appreciation to workers across Uganda for their dedication, resilience, and continued contribution to the country’s social and economic progress.
