Moroto – Uganda: On April 29th, while at the Moroto Resort Hotel, Joshua Okello—a prominent human rights activist—engaged Karamoja Members of Parliament through various media houses and journalists. His mission was to secure a commitment to support the current parliamentary leadership for the 12th Parliament.

The primary focus of this engagement is the re-election of Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among as the Speaker of Parliament. Joshua emphasized that her leadership is crucial for the continuity of the legislative agenda and national stability.

Alongside the Speaker, there is a strong push to retain Hon. Thomas Tayebwa as the Deputy Speaker. The goal is to keep the current leadership duo intact to ensure legislative efficiency within the 12th Parliament.

The people of Karamoja understand that regional development is not accidental but a product of intentional leadership. They believe maintaining this specific team is the best path forward for their community’s growth.

Both Among and Tayebwa have shown an unparalleled commitment to the unique challenges of Karamoja. Their track record in the region has earned them significant trust from local stakeholders and human rights defenders alike.

By utilizing different media platforms at the Moroto Resort Hotel, Joshua ensured that his message reached the MPs and the wider public effectively. This media-driven approach highlights the strategic importance of the upcoming leadership vote.

As the next parliament nears, the call from Karamoja is clear: consistency in leadership will drive the region’s development. The support for Among and Tayebwa remains a top priority for these representatives and their constituents.
